The Requirements

CNA

To qualify for free CNA training, you must be 18 years old and above with no criminal records in any state. You should also possess basic communication skills in both written and oral English. Applicants must also be capable of performing basic mathematical equations which is a necessity in the nursing assistant career. Another important requirement is, you must be at the very least a high school graduate or have the required GED. The requirements may differ for each state or institution that is offering the free CNA training so make inquiries in advance.

Free Training At Senior Homes

One of the facilities that offer free CNA training are the senior homes because they are the ones who are in need of certified nursing assistants. To meet their need for more personnel to take care of the elderly sheltered under their facility, they give free training to qualified applicants. The large-scale senior homes with capacities of 200 beds or more are usually the ones that offer free CNA training. Upon acceptance into the free training program, you will be completing 120 hours of lectures and practical trainings. Once you complete the required number of hours, you can start reviewing for the licensure exam required by the state. If you pass the exam, you are immediately hired by the senior home where you trained for free. In exchange for the free CNA training, the newly passed CNA is mandated to complete a certain number of work hours without pay. This free service to the senior home usually takes one year to complete. If by chance, you do not complete the required hours of free service you may be asked to pay back the partial or full cost of your training at the senior home.

Free Scholarships

Another way to get free CNA training is through scholarship grants given out by the state's health department for students who are in need of financial assistance. The internet is the best place to search for these free scholarships offered by the state. Find out as much information as you can about the available scholarships and start sending in your applications. The more applications you send in, the more you increase your chances of getting accepted.
