What Are Class 3 (SOT) FFL License Requirements?

The Class 3 (SOT) is an additional certification required for those who wish to deal with additional forms of guns accessories, ammunition and other automatic firearms which do not fall under the traditional Federal Firearms Laws and regulations. · Destructive Devices - Destructive devices refers to gas weapons, bombs and explosives including hand grenades. These weapons require a Class 3 (SOT) regulation license.

Before applying to obtain a Class 3 FFL additional certification, individuals must firstly acquire the traditional FFL license. In order to apply for the FFL license you must:

Be able to prove you have not violated any aspect of the Gun Control Act. Be at least 21 years of age at the time of applying for an FFL license.
